PNGWNG (Penguin), is an Arab hip-hop collective based in Haifa, Israel who are making very forward thinking music for the region. The group’s debut single “Ebn El Internet” translates to “Son of the Internet” and most of their lyrics are in Arabic. In the collectives own words, “The track explores the idea that the internet is the only certain place for us to go back to at the end of the day.” It is very important to them that their music pushes an agenda of Arabs exploring more freedom through speech, art, and music. They set out to accomplish this through action and not only words. Through their music, they express opinions and ideas that push boundaries for Arab culture and hopes this influences a new generation.
